Why Penny's Place?
There are so many incredible small businesses out there, specifically ones that offer hand embroidered products such as knit sweaters. I believe in community over competition and think there's a space for everyone who wants to create meaningful and handmade products. My goal with Penny's Place has always been to make a name for myself locally. Having lived in Guelph for 5+ years, I really love being apart of this community and loveeeee hearing from customers who were referred to Penny's Place by another local pal. I've done a few workshops here in Guelph as well as a few collaborations with other locally owned (& women-run!) small businesses. I really enjoy getting to meet customers IRL and I especially love teaching others how to customize items with their own hand embroidery techniques.
I also really love bringing new life to thrifted clothing, which is how Penny's Place started. I think it's so unique to add a hand embroidered design to a preloved piece of clothing and voilà, it's a "brand new", one-of-a-kind piece. It's also a much more sustainable way to shop.

Information on Hand Embroidered Products:
All of our hand embroidered products are made to order and stitched by hand. This makes each one of them original and no two products will be the exact same. Additionally, I exclusively use my own handwriting for both available fonts. I do not use font templates from other sources and will not duplicate/copy an existing font for design or hand embroidery requests. However, I'm always open to creating my own original design/font if you're looking for a certain vision. I will work with you via mockups of your requested design to ensure it's what you want. Information on Sizing:
Our new knit sweaters are slightly oversized so please select your sizing accordingly.
Our preloved products are listed according to the tag size. If I notice an obvious difference in the actual product size and the tag size, I will make note in the product description.
Information on Preloved Items:
The products in our preloved collection are all gently used; I do my best to inspect each piece to ensure there are no existing thread pulls or stains. When purchasing a preloved item, please remember that the prices of these products reflect the fact that they are preloved, making a more affordable, hand embroidered option.
Information on the Thrifted & Stitched Products:
This collection and the products found there are truly one-of-a-kind. I personally thrift each piece and then add an original design to each piece. By adding embroidery, appliqués, etc. to these pieces, they become "new" items and are exclusive to Penny's Place. Sizes for pieces in this collection range from baby to adult and will vary each time I launch new products.
Information about Caring for Wearable Products:
It is recommended that hand embroidered knitwear is washed by hand and hung to dry. This will ensure that the hand stitched garment lasts as long as possible.
Information about Ready to Ship (RTS) Items:
We offer a variety of ready to ship (RTS) items. This means that they are already made and can ship/be picked up quickly. I try to restock these items as frequently as possible; if you'd like a RTS item customized (i.e. a specific colour of flower for a bookmark), please complete the contact form and get in touch with me.
Information about Local Pickup & Shipping:
Hand embroidered items may take up to 5 weeks to be completed.
You can either have your item shipped to you (Canada wide shipping available) or do a local pickup in Guelph, ON.
Within Ontario - $15 flat rate
Outside Ontario - $20 flat rate
Once your order is shipped, it is the responsibility of the shipping courier and unfortunately we do not have any control over shipping delays or lost packages. If you have any concerns regarding your tracking information or order arrival, please don't hesitate to email us.
Information about Returns:
Due to the nature of these personalized and custom products, we do not accept returns or exchanges. If you are not fully satisfied with your order, please email us at pennysplaceco@gmail.com.
